Shallot (Allium ascalonicum)

ROTATION

It is grown in the root vegetable plot.

CULTIVATION

The bulbs are planted during a waning crescent moon in November for the grey shallot and in February and March for the other varieties.

NEIGHBOURING PLANTS

The shallot associates with carrots, beetroot and lettuce but avoid planting near peas and beans.

DISEASES AND PARASITES

The same as for the onion.

ADVICE

Be careful not plant too deep (around 2 cm).
Plant on a slight mound to avoid an excess of humidity.
