It is grown in the leaf vegetable bed.

CULTIVATION

Winter spinach is sown during a waning crescent moon in September, summer spinach in March and April.
Sow in rows spaced at 25 cm.

NEIGHBOURING PLANTS

Spinach associates well with beans and peas, it also likes cabbage, lettuce, celery and strawberries

DISEASES AND PARASITES

Principally canker, mildew, aphids and grubs.

ADVICE

Spinach is a natural improver of the vegetable garden, it acts as a fertiliser by fixing nitrogen in the soil.
