Harvesting and storing the tomato

The tomato is very productive, its yield is around 3 to 4 kg per plant.

Harvesting tomatoes :

Allow the tomatoes to ripen on the plant, this will give you a tastier fruit.
Pink tomaoes must be picked at the start of their colouring because they are susceptible to splitting.
Before the arrival of frost pick green tomatoes and place them in a dark place.

Storing tomatoes :

You can keep your autumn tomatoes longer if you remove the leaves and hang them upside down in the shade.
Avoid the refrigerator which alters the taste of the tomato, keep them at room temperature in a place that isn't too dry.
Green tomatoes will keep if wrapped in a newspaper and stored in a cool room.
