CROSNE (Stachys sieboldii)

The Japanese crosne  is a perennial root vegetable from the lamiaceae family

ROTATION It is grown in the root vegetable bed. CULTIVATION Propogation is by rhizomes in March, 3 or 4 are planted during a waning crescent moon. NEIGHBOURING PLANTS No particular preference. DISEASES AND PARASITES I don't know of any. ADVICE The crosne is invasive, be careful not to leave any part of the rhizomes when you dig them up or they grow again the following spring.
